Michelle Doyle is starting out life as a single mum in style after buying a brand new 2 bedroom apartment at Countryside Properties’ Vibe development at New Broughton in Salford.
Keen to have a place that she and daughter Ruby (3) could call their own, Michelle has found a way to make her money go further and get onto the property ladder with HomeBuy Direct.
Countryside Properties is collaborating with the government’s Home and Communities Agency (HCA) to offer HomeBuy Direct at New Broughton and give those struggling to get onto the property ladder the chance to purchase a place they can really call their own. The price is based upon a 70 percent share through the HomeBuy Direct scheme with the remaining 30 percent funded by way of an equity loan, which is provided by the government and Countryside Properties. There will be no fee to pay for the equity loan on the first five years.
When Michelle separated from her partner last year, she moved back to her mum’s in Lower Broughton with Ruby. She comments: “Living with my mum was lovely and it was fantastic to have her so close to help, but I still wanted my independence and for Ruby to have a mum to be proud of. It never even crossed my mind that I might be able to afford to buy on my own, so I started to look at places to rent nearby and popped into the New Broughton sales office to see if they knew of anybody renting out apartments there.
“The sales girls asked if I’d ever considered buying a property and showed me what the figures would be for a two bedroom apartment through the HomeBuy Direct scheme - I couldn’t believe it when I saw them. I applied straight away and got accepted on the scheme and I now have very affordable monthly mortgage payments. It feels great to be so self sufficient and know that I am providing a lovely home for Ruby to grow up in.”
