The design and specification of the new show village at The Thatchams in Priors Green, Takeley, Essex has brought further sales success for the developer, Countryside Properties. More new homes have now been reserved following the success of the show village launch last month. The secret lies in the design and specification of the five beautifully furnished show houses that make up the show village, all with individually landscaped gardens, giving prospective purchasers a real opportunity to see a range of properties available.
The externals of the homes are traditionally designed, but all offer contemporary high quality interiors boasting a range of features. The interiors of the show homes were designed by Mandi Boydell of JSP Interiors Ltd and Helen Fewster and Rebecca Tucker of Suna Interior Design Ltd. Helen Fewster, said: “Our designs bring a distinctly contemporary feel to luxurious, yet traditional family homes. By using elements such as contemporary banquette seating in the kitchen, offset by classic Charles Eames Eiffel chairs, we have shown that traditional doesn’t necessarily mean a pastiche of vernacular styles. We have focussed on particular features such as the vast master bedroom in the four bedroom Chamberlain house design.”
Mandi Boydell of JSP Interiors, added: “Countryside Properties’ homes are a joy to work with and make ideal family homes. The designs are a classic modern style, with a distinctly patriotic edge, though our design for the two bedroom ‘Maynard’ is aimed at a young couple wishing for sharp, crisp design with high gloss finishes. We have kept the interiors contemporary with a Wii which can be used by all the family.”
Recognising that customers require well specified homes that meet their needs, Countryside Properties offers an unusually high specification as standard which includes many items that other housebuilders charge as optional extras. The kitchens are available in a choice of two styles (subject to build stage), which include integrated energy-efficient appliances, with stone or granite worktops to the larger houses . Ceramic floor tiling and shaker-style or high gloss kitchens add to the feeling of walking in to a fully-equipped space. Bathrooms and en-suites include ceramic floor tiling and heated towel rails. Sky Plus is installed to TV points for those residents who have a contract with the service provider.
Master bedrooms feature ‘slide and store’ wardrobes with mirrored glass doors. All dwellings meet ‘Secure By Design Standards’, which are administered by the Association of Chief Police Officers. Outside all private driveways are block paved and rear gardens feature patio areas and are fully turfed. Selected houses are provided with a shed for cycle storage.
The Thatchams meets Level Three of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Over 75 per cent of the lighting in the homes have low energy fittings, which uses up to 80 per cent less electricity than standard light fittings. The central heating is by highly efficient gas fired condensing boilers together with energy efficient solar thermal panels on the roof providing around a third of the hot water needs at no cost to the residents. There are water butts in the gardens and compost bins to reduce waste sent to landfill sites and recycling bins in the kitchens to help re-use and conserve important raw materials. Dual flush toilet systems will save up to nine litres of water on a single flush or thousands of litres per toilet each year, while spray head taps use around 50% less water than conventional taps saving you thousands of litres each year.
Countryside Properties’ divisional managing director for New Homes and Communities, Tony Travers, said: “Design and specification has to be right for our customers. They are looking for the best and we do our very best to provide it. At The Thatchams, Countryside Properties has made a significant commitment to the area with our show village and our purchasers have recognised this and realise that they are not just buying a house, but buying into a community that really works and gives them a strong sense of belonging. We want our customers to have a pride in their homes and their surroundings.”
