The design and specification of the new show village at The Thatchams in Priors Green, Takeley, Essex has brought further sales success for the developer, Countryside Properties.  More new homes have now been reserved following the success of the show village launch last month.  The secret lies in the design and specification of the five beautifully furnished show houses that make up the show village, all with individually landscaped gardens, giving prospective purchasers a real opportunity to see a range of properties available. 

The externals of the homes are traditionally designed, but all offer contemporary high quality interiors boasting a range of features.  The interiors of the show homes were designed by Mandi Boydell of JSP Interiors Ltd and Helen Fewster and Rebecca Tucker of Suna Interior Design Ltd.  Helen Fewster, said:  “Our designs bring a distinctly contemporary feel to luxurious, yet traditional family homes.  By using elements such as contemporary banquette seating in the kitchen, offset by classic Charles Eames Eiffel chairs, we have shown that traditional doesn’t necessarily mean a pastiche of vernacular styles.  We have focussed on particular features such as the vast master bedroom in the four bedroom Chamberlain house design.”

The Thatchams meets Level Three of the Code for Sustainable Homes.  Over 75 per cent of the lighting in the homes have low energy fittings, which uses up to 80 per cent less electricity than standard light fittings.  The central heating is by highly efficient gas fired condensing boilers together with energy efficient solar thermal panels on the roof providing around a third of the hot water needs at no cost to the residents.  There are water butts in the gardens and compost bins to reduce waste sent to landfill sites and recycling bins in the kitchens to help re-use and conserve important raw materials.  Dual flush toilet systems will save up to nine litres of water on a single flush or thousands of litres per toilet each year, while spray head taps use around 50% less water than conventional taps saving you thousands of litres each year.
