Countryside Properties PLC has received resolutions to grant planning permission from Uttlesford District Council for its residential schemes off Peaslands Road in Saffron Walden.
The Council has given Countryside Properties the green light for the two development proposals submitted on land east of Bell College, the first for 66 new homes and an alternative scheme for 55 homes.
Following these positive decisions, Countryside Properties will now evaluate both schemes and undertake market research with potential purchasers as to which scheme should be progressed.
Chris Crook, Managing Director of Countryside Properties commented: "We are delighted that our proposals have been approved and will be working hard over the coming months to appraise the schemes, both of which include extensive community facilities that will benefit existing and new residents."
The same level of community facilities will be provided with either scheme including a full-size football pitch (designed to meet both Sport England and National Playing Fields Association standards), together with a hard court games area, play area, informal public open space and a sports pavilion with changing area and a car park.
The first proposal for the 7.4 acre site comprises 66 two, three and four bedroom homes and one and two bedroom apartments of contemporary design, as well as 18 affordable properties to be provided in conjunction with a housing association.
The second scheme would offer a reduced number of homes, with an alternative layout, comprising 55 new homes, 14 of which are affordable properties. Traditional design, using vernacular materials would feature.
