Every day millions of children across Britain are ferried to and from school by car, provoking groans from parents and their offspring alike. The average round trip for a parent is said to be around 16 miles.

When added up, the figure is even more startling, as parents chauffeur their children more than 80,000 miles from their first day at school to the day they pass their driving test at 17. That’s the equivalent distance of more than three times around the world.

Ventura, a new development by Countryside Maritime, on Britain’s only planned island community at St Mary’s Island, Chatham Maritime offers an alternative. By creating high-quality new homes close to the centrally located St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, which has places for up to 400 children, parents will be able to send their children to school on foot every day.

Boosted by St Mary’s Island’s reputation as a great place to bring up children thanks to its family-orientated atmosphere and recreational facilities, parents can feel confident that their children will be safe and receive a good education.

Yvonne Hudson-Green, Sales and Marketing Director of Countryside Properties, comments: “Ventura offers parents a safe and relaxed environment in which to bring up children. The advantages of plenty of space and the local school are recognised by those families who have moved here. They are able to spend more time enjoying the outdoor lifestyle here, relaxing and fostering a better quality of life.”

Ventura is a collection of one and two bedroom apartments and three and four bedroom town houses. The scheme is being developed by Countryside Maritime, a joint venture between South East England Development Agency and Countryside Properties.

In addition to the school, there is a range of community facilities on the Island including a Doctors’ Surgery and a community centre, providing excellent facilities for a variety of uses from adult groups to children’s parties.

First class transport connections make this an easily accessible location. Frequent train services to London Cannon Street provide a journey time of 47 minutes. Services to Waterloo and London Bridge are also available. Chatham Maritime is located close to the M2 and M20, while Heathrow and Gatwick airports are all within easy reach via the M25.

There are now only 6 homes available at Ventura. Prices start from £165,000 for a two bedroom apartment and £320,000 for a four bedroom townhouse. All homes come with parking facilities. For further sales information please contact the Ventura Marketing Suite on 0845 071 2071
