An afternoon in a sleepy village pub is normally a quiet affair - good food, pleasant company, and rural surroundings. However when Danny Regan went to the village of Stock in Essex for lunch, he hadn’t bargained on leaving with lunch and a new home.
Danny and his wife, Margaret, visited Countryside Properties’ Harvard Grange development following their lunch and fell in love with the show home, a stunning five bedroom home with timber detailing in heritage colours.
The couple, who currently own a detached five bedroom Tudor style home in Emerson Park, Hornchurch, were not intending to move, but having viewed the property and visited the village they bought the multi-award winning Fitzwilliam House.
Keen not to downsize, the location of Harvard Grange was perfect. Set in 17 acres, eight of which are retained as open space, their new home offers a more rural location, yet excellent transport links allow easy access to London and the coast.
Mr Regan commented: “Finding the right family home with the space we require would ordinarily have been a tall order, as there are few properties on the market that are so well designed and suit our needs.“
Fitzwilliam House recently won the accolade of ‘Best New Family Home with five or more Bedrooms’ and the coveted title of overall winner of ‘New Home of the Year’ at the 2005 Evening Standard New Homes Awards.
The luxurious interiors of the homes include balconies overlooking the gardens, and timber beamed or vaulted ceilings. The master bedroom comes complete with a separate dressing area and the Italian styled en-suite offers walk-in shower and oversized basin and bath.
Danny Regan, 60, who was previously in the fashion business was impressed with the home’s interior design which appealed to his well honed sense of style.
Mr Regan added: “Harvard Grange offers a perfect mix of the best in architectural features from period properties combined with modern interiors and spacious living.”
Traditional materials have been the key to Harvard Grange’s success, with hand finished clay roof tiles, red stock bricks and half timbering attracting purchasers to these distinctive homes.
Harvard Grange is less than a mile from the charming village of Stock, and just two miles from Billericay, which offers a mainline station and a journey time of 30 minutes to London Liverpool Street. Stock itself offers picturesque pubs, a church and a traditional village green. A health spa at Greenwood House and golf and country club at Stockbrook Manor are within a short drive of the development.
The five remaining individually designed detached five and six bedroom homes are priced from £1,375,000 to £1,950,000. The homes offer generous plot sizes (from 0.28 acres to 0.58 acres) and impressive square footage, the homes ranging from just over 3,000 sq ft up to just under 5,000 sq ft.
