A NEW EURO STAR

Springhead Park, Ebbsfleet, Kent 28.11.07

Ebbsfleet International train Station is set to revive north Kent.

The opening of the new Eurostar terminal at Ebbsfleet, north Kent, was sadly drowned out by the fanfare for St Pancras.  Yet this new station, set close to the M25 and the Dartford river crossing, is likely to have a big impact.

With a catchment of 10 million potential passengers from the south of England, Ebbsfleet International is poised to become a major transport hub - not just for Euro-travellers but for London-bound commuters, too.  This former industrial zone in the Thames Gateway is nearer to

the Square Mile than, say, Hounslow.  By 2009, Japanese-style "bullet" trains will speed between Ebbsfleet and St Pancras, via Stratford, in only 17 minutes.

About 20,000 new homes are ear-marked in Ebbsfleet alone. Land Securities is building a commercial district with 13,000 homes at former quarries.

Springhead Park, a 600-home scheme next to Ebbsfleet station, is the first phase.  This is a joint venture with Countryside Properties and is due to be launched in January.  To register, visit www.countryside-properties.com.
