A contemporary new quarter for Cambridge

  • 269 acres on former greenbelt
  • 2,550 new homes
  • 120 acre country park, schools and extensive amenities
  • Delivery 2010 to 2020

Great Kneighton is a sustainable new community that will become home to some 6,000 people in high quality integrated neighbourhoods which include 40% affordable housing. It features Housing Design Award winning contemporary architecture that has been designed to appeal to the local market and enables us to deliver the higher density housing sought by the local authority.

Working with the City and County Councils, landowners and their agents, we successfully promoted this former greenbelt site through the planning process. This included extensive stakeholder and community consultation.

Some description

Significant early investment has been made in the delivery of infrastructure including a 120 acre country park, primary and secondary schools and a new town square.

Adjacent to Great Kneighton we are creating the 2.3 million sq ft Cambridge Biomedical Campus, in partnership with Liberty Property Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to accommodate the expansion of Addenbrookes Hospital and be home to Astra Zeneca and Papworth Hospital.

"Working with Countryside has been simple, straightforward and consistent. We chose to undertake a number of important schemes with them in the Cambridge Southern Fringe because of their multi-disciplinary approach and first class track record in creating sustainable new communities.”
