Countryside Properties is pleased to announce that Cliveden Village in Taplow, Buckinghamshire wowed the judges of the 2013 What House? Awards, winning a silver award in the ‘Best Retirement Development’ category. Competing against the great and good of the housebuilding industry, Cliveden Village beat stiff competition and was awarded the accolade on the 15th November at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

Cliveden Village Is Reigning Silver For Best Retirement Development

The awards are judged by a panel of property experts, from architects to property writers.  Now in their 32nd year, the What House? Awards are the Oscars of the housebuilding industry, rewarding the very best achievements from Britain's housebuilders. This year was an outperforming success, with comedian Dave Spikey presenting the awards to a captivating audience of 1500 attendees.

The What House? Awards judges commented: “Countryside had a massive head start in terms of dream locations when it partnered with the National Trust, owner of the 376-acre Buckinghamshire estate, bequeathed to the Trust in 1943 by the Astor family. But it's been a true partnership, with the National Trust, as the country's biggest conservation body, having to ensure it worked with a sympathetic housebuilder that could deliver a sustainable vision in a historic landscape, while providing new homes and creating a new community.”

Tony Travers, Managing Director of the New Homes & Communities division at Countryside Properties said: “We are delighted that Cliveden Village has been awarded silver in the Best Retirement Development category, and it’s no wonder as this development is so unique. Adding to its distinction, unlike more traditional retirement developments, Cliveden Village does not have different levels of care services to residents; instead it offers exemplary building design, access to superb leisure facilities and a dedicated concierge service to take care of day-to-day tasks.”

Situated within a beautiful National Trust setting and located at its gated Cliveden Village development in Taplow, Buckinghamshire the unique properties have the added benefit of a private gate leading into the beautiful and historic Cliveden Estate. Once complete, Cliveden Village will comprise 131 apartments and houses designed exclusively for the over 55s.

Thoughtfully designed to offer open plan accommodation that’s perfect for today’s modern living, these luxury properties each feature high ceilings and full height windows throughout the property which allow an abundance of air and natural light into the property, as well as making the most of the stunning woodland views.

Buyers at Cliveden Village can also become a member of the exclusive Cliveden Club and enjoy the variety of social events held throughout the year plus onsite health and leisure facilities.  These include The Cliveden Pavilion Spa featuring indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, gymnasium, exercise studio, tennis and squash courts.  Purchasers also benefit from a concierge service available five days a week, to help ensure residents’ lives are as effortless and stress free as possible.

The concierge service oversees day-to-day life within the development, dealing with everything from communal landscape maintenance to refuse collection and recycling. The concierge is available to accept home deliveries and provides a constant presence.  CCTV also links the concierge office to the secure underground apartment car park.

Outside of the estate residents of Cliveden Village are perfectly placed to enjoy either a relaxing or an active lifestyle.  The nearby towns of Taplow, Marlow, Beaconsfield and Maidenhead all have their own distinctive character and are ideal for a day out.  With a wide choice of local art galleries, cinemas, museums and theatres, there are numerous opportunities to enjoy a cultural experience without having to travel too far.

Maidenhead is one of the most affluent areas of the UK and its town centre has over 300 shops, ranging from high-street stores and designer boutiques to independent retailers.  Two of the UK’s three-Michelin-starred restaurants, the world-famous Fat Duck, owned by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal and the Waterside Inn founded by the brothers Michel and Albert Roux, are just minutes away in the village of Bray.

Taplow is a quiet village located on the River Thames, with Taplow Court, a mid-19th century mansion, open to the public during the summer months.  The village contains a choice of welcoming pubs, which are perfect for a relaxing Sunday lunch.

The development enjoys a great location with excellent links for travel by road, rail or air.  Taplow Station is just two miles away with a swift, 35-minute, service to central London.  The M4 and M40 motorways are convenient, giving access to the M25, while Heathrow airport is only 15 miles away.
