On Saturday 28th June, 21 Countryside staff and their guests donned their branded cycling gear and took their bikes to the roads to cycle 92km, touring part of the Tour De France route and Countryside’s new and existing developments from Cambridge through to Essex.

Countryside Completes Charity 'Tour De Sites' Cycle Challenge

Raising money for Little Haven’s Hospice and the NSPCC, the ‘Tour De Sites’ challenge took a total of 5 hours and raised just over £2,400 which was matched by Countryside to give a total of £4,800.

The Countryside team, including Chief Executive, Graham Cherry set off early from Cambridge station, together with their guests from sub-contractors, agents and suppliers, cycling through many of their developments along the way. These included Great Kneighton in Cambridge, Priors Green in Takeley, Essex, Great Notley Garden Village in Braintree and completing the course at Beaulieu in Chelmsford.

Graham Cherry, Chief Executive of Countryside comments on the successful day, “Inspired by the Tour De France, we thought the Tour De Sites would be the perfect opportunity for some of us to really put our cycling skills to the test and raise some funds for our nominated charities! It’s been a great success, we’ve all benefitted from training for this event in the past few months. We are delighted to have raised so much money for our charities Little Haven’s Hospice and NSPCC.”

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part. All the cyclists had such a positive attitude and were in high spirits, which meant the determination to finish the Tour De Sites in an impressive time was achieved.”

One of the developments on the Tour De Sites route was Great Kneighton. This exciting new community is currently taking shape on the southern fringe of Cambridge. Countryside is building a contemporary, sustainable development of over 2,000 imaginatively designed new homes, from apartments through to six bedroom family houses.

Everything will be on the doorstep at Great Kneighton with a whole range of new amenities being planned. In addition to the country park there will be a new secondary and primary school, health centre, shops, a library, community square, sports pitches and a public art programme.
