On Saturday 27th June, 39 Countryside staff and their guests donned their cycling gear and took to the roads to cycle 88km, touring Countryside’s new and existing developments across Essex to raise money for the Essex Air Ambulance and Teenage Cancer Trust.

Countryside’s ‘Tour de Sites’ cycle challenge raises cash for charity

The ‘Countryside Tour de Sites’ challenge took 6 hours and raised just over £2,000 which was matched by Countryside, giving a total of more than £4,000.

Supported by Cycles UK, who checked all bikes at the start of the event and were on hand to help the cyclists throughout the day, the Countryside team led by New Homes & Communities Chief Executive, Graham Cherry set off early from the company’s exciting new development at Beaulieu in Chelmsford.  Together with their guests from sub-contractors, agents and suppliers, the team cycled through many of their developments along the way. These included Hollow Lane in Chelmsford, Friars Place in Takeley, Essex and Great Notley Garden Village in Braintree.

Graham Cherry, Chief Executive of Countryside’s New Homes & Communities division comments on the successful day, “This year’s Tour de Sites has been a fantastic event with an enthusiastic team working and training together to raise vital funds to help support the Essex Air Ambulance and Teenage Cancer Trust.  I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part. All the cyclists had such a positive attitude and were in high spirits, which meant the determination to finish the peloton in an impressive time was achieved.”

All of the cyclists started and finished the tour at Beaulieu, Countryside’s eagerly awaited new development with joint venture partners L&Q, which is set to transform Chelmsford providing up to 3,600 homes along with a range of community facilities and schools.

Set to publically launch this coming weekend, the first collection of 49 new homes at Beaulieu Heath will include two, three, four and five bedroom homes featuring striking colonial style architecture.  Located adjacent to open parkland, yet close to the new neighbourhood centre and proposed new schools, these exciting new homes include individually designed kitchens, open-plan living and dining areas, integrated appliances and landscaped front gardens. Some also feature private roof terraces, and many also include a single or double garage. Guide prices for this new phase range from £400,000 to £900,000.

Beaulieu Chase will be the second collection of new houses to be released at Beaulieu in early 2016, offering contemporary style family homes ranging from two to five bedrooms, set within a well-thought out landscaped area, offering picturesque views over the park or garden streets – a concept based on the Victorian garden square which provides a pleasant green outlook.

The residential areas will be supported by first class amenities that will allow the new neighbourhoods to grow and flourish. A wide range of facilities will be provided including two new primary schools and a secondary school, community, health, sport and retail amenities together with an extensive network of parkland, cycleways, footpaths and green open spaces, plus new road and rail transport connections – all adding up to ensure that Beaulieu is a place that people are proud to call home.
