There are many way in which you can dress up your fireplace to get it ready for the festive season. After all, it is Santa's doorway to your home, so why not get creative with the kids and make him feel welcome!
Santa Stockings – Making your own stockings is a lovely way to add character to your fireplace. There are many stocking making kits that can be found online – which range from very simple to very intricate designs. It’s a great family activity to do together and the finished pieces will make a great keepsake for when you’re children grow up.
Santa Footprints – Though it may not be necessary, you can easily create some more excitement for your little ones on the big day. Once your children are asleep, try creating your own Santa footprint trail from the fireplace to the tree, and back again! Simply find some large boots or wellies (either dad’s or another relative with reasonably large feet!) and ensure that they are fairly clean. Using either talcum powder or glitter, gently pour it around the boot after positioning it where you would like your trail to begin. Continue to do so until you’ve come full circle, back to the fireplace.
