On Saturday 11th June, Greenwich Millennium Village Residents’ Association held the first Big Lunch of 2016 at the development. The first of three Big Lunches planned for the local community this year, the event saw residents come together for a day of fun activities including team games, face painting, soft play and arts and crafts by local Holy Trinity Church, whilst guests also enjoyed dishes prepared by members of the community.

Residents at Greenwich Millennium Village Enjoy a Fun Filled Big Lunch

Greenwich Millennium Village is an inspirational joint venture development by Countryside and Taylor Wimpey in association with the Mayor of London. Continuing their support of the community growing at the village, the three partners donated edible treats, balloons and raffle prizes for the Big Lunch event.

The Big Lunch is an Eden Project initiative with the simple aim to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours annually, in an act of community, friendship and fun. Since starting in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place in all types of communities, with 2016 seeing the eighth official annual Big Lunch to be held at Greenwich Millennium Village.

Chris Bladon, Managing Director of Countryside’s New Homes and Communities Eastern Division comments: “The Big Lunch is a great initiative, which brings communities even closer together and the Residents’ Association at Greenwich Millennium Village do a wonderful job of organising this fun family event every year. The lunch sees residents new and old come together and build relationships, which is why we are proud to have created this wonderful community and continue to show our support for this event.”

Sylvia Williams, Social Secretary for the Residents Association, said: “We are very grateful for the annual support from the Greenwich Millennium Village Ltd, as not only have they developed our homes, but their involvement helps us continue to build a true community here on the Greenwich Peninsula.

“The biscuits provided went down a treat and the winner of the raffle was extremely happy with their hamper! We’d also like to thank our on-site nursery, Millennium Minis for being the main sponsor of this year’s event, without them none of it would have been possible.”

Ideal for professionals, couples and families looking to enjoy city living with a village feel, Greenwich Millennium Village has been described as one of the most exciting and innovative residential neighbourhoods in Europe.

This latest phase of homes is situated within the Millennium Terrace building and has been designed by leading architects Jestico & Whiles with brightly coloured architectural details that add vibrancy and creativity to the overall development.

Residents at Greenwich Millennium Village can take advantage of a huge amount of green open space with landscaped courtyards, a 50 acre ecology park with two lakes and thriving wildlife, and a new eco play area. There is also a village square with a health centre, hairdressers, Ayurveda spa, nursery, the ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rated Millennium Primary school and shops including a pharmacy and dry cleaners, all of which contributes to the strong, close-knit community feel of the development. There is also a 24-hour a day on site concierge service which can accept packages and hold keys on behalf of residents.

For commuters, the development is within close proximity to the City and Canary Wharf, which is one stop away on the Jubilee Line from North Greenwich Underground Station.  There is also an excellent range of amenities within close proximity of the development including The O2 with its diverse mix of restaurant, cafes and entertainment opportunities as well as the Thames Clipper and Emirates Air Line.

Those of a nautical nature can take advantage of the Greenwich Yacht Club adjacent to the development which offers a range of facilities including deep water moorings and club bar with river views, whilst a beach area on the Thames makes for great summer entertainment.

Prices for a one bedroom apartment start at £410,000 and £510,000 for a two bedroom. Selected properties are also available with the new London Help to Buy scheme.
