Amenity-rich rural locations are becoming popular destinations for current homebuyers, with 21% of surveyed house-hunters stating their desire to move to such an area, while cities came last at just 12%, according to research by Strutt and Parker*.

Homebuyers Choose Amenity Rich Rural Locations Over City Hotspots

For those looking to move to a leafy spot, offering a wealth of amenities, Countryside’s recently launched development, Countryside at Chesterwell in Colchester, Essex is an ideal choice.

Chesterwell offers homebuyers both historic charm and contemporary appeal within a short distance from Dedham Vale, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Furthermore, in time the development itself is set to benefit from a wide range of community amenities including new shops, community centre and sports facilities. A new primary and secondary school, bid jointly by The Gilberd School, Colchester County High School for Girls and Manningtree High School, will also be opening at Chesterwell.  Properties at Countryside at Chesterwell offer homebuyers a charming range of two, three and four bedroom houses and two bedroom apartments, designed to blend into the historic surroundings.

Chris Bladon, Managing Director of Countryside’s New Homes and Communities Eastern Region comments: “Amenity rich rural locations are clearly in high demand at the moment, so we’re thrilled to offer homebuyers a fantastic choice of new homes at Chesterwell. The area offers a brilliant range of amenities, whilst still maintaining character and charm and the development itself will boast a wide range of facilities right on the doorstep.”

All of the homes and apartments are expertly finished and will be ready to move into, allowing residents to feel at home straight away. The Rosefinch is a traditional four-bedroom family home with spacious living areas and a high specification. The ground floor offers a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, with a laminated Copper Slate worktop, AEG double oven and integrated appliances, while elegant french doors open out onto the rear garden.

The first floor boasts three double bedrooms, two of which have accompanying en suites as well as a fourth bedroom that can also be utilised as a study room.  The bathroom and en suites offer a high-specification, with white sanitaryware, chromeware, Amtico Spacia flooring and a chrome towel rail. The home is completed with its own private garage.

For more active residents who enjoy the countryside, Colchester has an abundance of green spaces and is situated close to some of the UK’s finest rural offerings. Only a short distance from Chesterwell, High Woods Country Park offers woodlands, rolling hills, a picturesque lake and wildflower meadows, as well as a popular adventure playground. In the town centre, Castle Park, dominated by its Norman keep, is beautifully landscaped and maintained. Visitors can enjoy vibrant flower displays, ponds, a boating lake, playgrounds and many regular events and festivals. For other active pursuits, a David Lloyd Sports Centre has also recently opened nearby.

Ideal for commuters, Chesterwell is located just two miles from Colchester train station, where frequent direct services into London Liverpool Street take under an hour. The development also offers good access to the A12, meaning locations such as Ipswich, Witham, Chelmsford and London are all within easy reach. For travelling further afield, Stansted Airport is just 34 miles away, offering flights to Europe and beyond.

Prices at Chesterwell start from £199,995 for a two bedroom apartment and houses from £229,995. Selected properties will be able to purchase through the popular Help to Buy scheme.
