Having previously rented in Kirkby, the pair decided to test the waters by relocating into a rented property at the NGV Liverpool development for 18 months, before securing their Countryside home through the Help to Buy scheme.
Stephen, who works at Santander, commented: “We’ve wanted to buy for a while now. While renting in NGV Liverpool we fell in love with the neighbourhood, so we decided to look at buying a property here. We were really impressed with the Stamford home design as it has so many amazing and modern features, such as the open-plan living space and the French doors that open out into the garden - perfect for Prince, our pet Shih Tzu!
“We knew straight away that the house was for us. We even decided to bring our wedding forward to help save some money and invest in our new home, as well as our future.”
The couple, who got married in September, will be upgrading from their two-bedroom rented, house into a three-bedroom, semi-detached Stamford home, which is spread across three floors and comes complete with an open-plan kitchen and living area.
“It’s hard being a first time buyer because you’re expected to give a lot of information over, which can sometimes be quite daunting and confusing. My advice to other buyers would be to make sure that you ask as many questions as you need, in order to fully understand the process.”
Stephen and Ian are expected to move into their new home in April next year, which is located just over the road from their rented house.
Stephen added: “We’ve got an exciting six months ahead of us with two major milestones to celebrate – our first home and a two-week honeymoon in Mexico!”
Peter Vella, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at Countryside, commented: “We’ve seen a real surge in sales across Merseyside and it’s great to see so many first time buyers choosing a Countryside property as their first home. Stephen and Ian’s journey is a perfect example of how collaborative working between homebuilders and local authorities can really transform an area into a thriving neighbourhood that people aspire to live in.
“We’d like to wish the newlyweds, and of course Prince, the very best of luck in their new Countryside home and for their future together.”
NGV Liverpool has become a thriving community since its launch in 2012 and once complete the development will consist of 829 new homes, forming part of Liverpool City Council’s regeneration of North Liverpool.
The show homes at NGV Liverpool are open 11am till 6pm, 7 days a week. For further information about the new homes at The Avenue at NGV Liverpool please contact the sales team on 0151 909 5508, email NGV@cpplc.com or visit www.ngvliverpool.co.uk.
