Once they discovered the exciting new homes at Azure by Countryside Maritime they didn’t look back. Here, Mikaela shares her experience with buying a new house on the island, and explains how pleased she and Martin are with their forever home.
It was a very easy decision for my husband and I to buy a property at Azure after eight years of renting our previous property on St Mary’s Island. We had grown so attached to the fantastic community atmosphere as well as the transport links; Martin and I both work in the city and our commute only takes around 40 minutes on the train, it seemed like the perfect place to purchase our forever home!
We wanted to buy the biggest house that we could afford and that dream soon became a reality when we upsized to a five bedroom home, all thanks to the government’s Help to Buy scheme.
We love the community spirit of the island and everything about the development and especially love our new home. Our neighbours are wonderful and once the development has completed, we will have beautiful waterfront views from our home – which is the perfect added bonus.
As fans of modern interiors, my husband and I were looking for a home that required minimal effort when it came to interior design and DIY. For that reason, we had our eyes set on a new build. The money that we would have spent on home fixtures enabled us to buy a bigger house, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision! The layout is ideal, and couldn’t be more suited to a forever home. We have an open plan living space in the combined kitchen and dining area and a separate living room, which is perfect for a cosy retreat or alternatively a space for entertaining guests.
We are so happy that we are able to call St Mary’s Island our home and it’s comforting to know that we will be here for a very long time. I am also hoping to convince my parents to move to the island – so that we can all enjoy our next chapter together!
Mr and Mrs Saunders,
