Nobody does a picnic like the British. From teddy bears picnics to Pimm’s in the park, there’s a reason picnicking is so popular. It’s a cost-effective way to get the kids out of the house over the summer, and it’s a great way to meet up with friends and family.

5 Crowd Pleasing and Tasty Picnic Recipes - by Lisa Hill

This week, people all over the country will be sitting down to picnics for National Picnic Week 2017, bringing communities together over al fresco, homemade dining. With developments surrounded by beautiful parklands, we can’t blame some of our development communities for joining in the fun! So, we’ve come up with some of the most popular picnic recipes for you to pop in your basket with minimum effort.

1) Super Simple Mini Quiche
A real crowd pleaser, these mini quiches are adaptable to be made however you like them! Add peppers and courgettes for a vegetarian-friendly alternative, or stick with this classic quiche Lorraine recipe to snack on!

2) Cheese and Marmite Savouries
Turning the classic British children’s sandwich into a pastry, this recipe will go down a treat with the kids (and the adults too)! And when we said easy, we meant it, this recipe contains just 4 ingredients! Quick, easy and delicious!

3) Banana and Nutella ‘Sushi’ Wraps
No fish involved, we promise! These wraps make a sweet snack and include 1 of your 5 a day. Delicious and nutritious, these are easy to prepare and are a great picnic food for all the family.

4) ‘The Best’ Pasta Salad
Pasta salad is a picnic staple, and Jamie Oliver says he’s found the best ever! Made with house staples, this recipe is quick and easy, but is also perfect if you’d like to make it the night before and pop it in the fridge!

5) White Chocolate Rocky Road
Taking a white chocolate twist on the picnic staple, this recipe introduces cranberries and pistachios to the mixture. An easy, no bake recipe which is sure to be met with a very happy response, no matter what the age!

Many of our developments are within walking distance of a park where families, friends and communities can enjoy a picnic together.

Our Beaulieu development in Essex is surrounded by beautiful open parkland, providing the perfect place to throw together a spontaneous picnic. Great Kneighton, on the outskirts of Cambridge, offers beautiful green areas both within the city and in its surrounding area, creating the perfect setting for a picnic. Picnicking isn’t just for those living in the countryside however, for example our development, Acton Gardens is also spoilt for choice with its outdoor spaces, and our brand new Hayling Place development in Watford is just a stone’s throw from the South Oxhey playing fields.

Countryside is currently developing a number of new homes across London and the rest of the UK. To keep up to date with our latest launches and available properties, follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for more information.
