In celebration of the Tour de France race, 105 members of our team donned their cycling gear and took to the roads to cycle 50 miles. Touring our new and existing developments across Essex the ‘Countryside Tour De Sites’ was one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, and it didn’t disappoint, raising just over £7,000 for The Alzheimer’s Society.

Countryside's Annual Tour de Sites Cycle Challenge Raises Funds for The Alzheimer's Society - by Laura Murray

All of the cyclists started and finished the tour at Beaulieu, our landmark development, before cycling through the Essex countryside. The route showcased many of our past, current and future developments including New Hall and Atelier in Harlow, Little Hollows in Chignal Smealey and Hanbury Chase in Chelmsford. To celebrate their success, everyone involved then enjoyed a BBQ with friends and family, before ending the day with a charity auction, to boost the fundraising

Graham Cherry, Chief Executive of our Partnerships South team said: ‘’As a company, we fundraise throughout the year for our nominated charities and the Tour de Sites is always a highlight. We are delighted that this year’s event has been so successful and raised vital funds to support the excellent work of The Alzheimer’s Society. I’d like to thank everyone who took part, for their enthusiasm and dedication in training and fundraising, and to those who supported them along the way.”

At the centre of the tour was our 610-acre development in Chelmsford, Beaulieu, which offers a mix of 3,600 traditional and contemporary homes. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Grade I listed New Hall School, once King Henry VIII’s hunting estate, all the participants enjoyed stunning landscapes throughout their route.

With the weather holding up and the cyclists taking 6 hours to complete the challenge, a wonderful day was had by all. Thank you to all those who took part, and for more information about the charity work Countryside organises, keep an eye on our blog.
