Last year, 20 home buyers relied on the ‘Bank of Mum and Dad’ as a means to fund all, or part of, their journey to get onto the property ladder. It’s becoming increasingly common for financial help to come from a family member, be it parents or grandparents. Which is why we’ve come up with a ‘Bank of Mum and Dad’ scheme, in appreciation of this huge act of generosity. Countryside will gift £2,000 back to the parent or family member who provided the deposit, as a thank you.

Sisters Keeping it in the Family with Bank of Mum and Dad at St Paul's Square - by Lucy and Sophie Mason

St Paul’s Square in Bow, E3, provides a collection of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments, ideal for young professionals. With many apartments on higher levels enjoying views of the city or Canary Wharf, each home also offers its own outside space in the form of a balcony or terrace. Ideally situated, the development is surrounded by a number of local facilities, including Westfield Stratford City and The Olympic Village. Sisters Lucy (24) and Sophie (22) Mason, have been fortunate enough to invest in their future with the financial support of both their Dad and Grandad, and bought a two-bedroom apartment at our St Paul’s Square development.

Lucy explains: “We were each spending a lot of money on rent and wanted to invest in our own future rather than putting money into someone else’s pocket. We thought a mortgage would be more manageable than renting; it made financial sense for us to purchase together. We were very lucky that my dad and grandad were able to help us out with the deposit, we couldn’t have done it without them. Although we both had been saving, with the high cost of living in London, it was difficult for us to save a significant amount each month. By using the London Help to Buy scheme, we needed a smaller deposit and we also used Countryside’s Bank of Mum and Dad scheme.”

Sophie explains: “The specification of the apartment is great and the build quality is excellent; it was reassuring to know that with a new build we wouldn’t have any maintenance. We have a spacious open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is also heaps of storage space. We wanted to live somewhere whereby we felt safe and we feel very secure living on the development. It is the little things that count, we have experienced a very good aftercare service from Countryside, which included their handyman service that offered help with DIY when moving in.”

Being just over a mile from Canary Warf and with excellent transport links for commuting in and around London, St Paul’s Square is ideally situated and also within easy access of excellent transport links for commuting in and around London.

Prices for a one-bedroom apartment at St Paul’s Square start from £440,000, with selected properties available on the Help to Buy Scheme. The marketing suite and show homes are open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm, for more information and to register your interest, please call 0207 538 8264, email stpaulssquare@cpplc.com or visit www.countryside-properties.com.
