To celebrate new homes week, Esteban and Mathilde Cordero have shared their experience of buying a brand new home at our Horsted Park development in Chatham, Kent. They used Help to Buy to purchase their forever home, as rising rent and their growing family meant that their old apartment was no longer practical for them.

Happy Families at Horsted Park - by Esteban and Mathilde Cordero

My wife and I were in need of a new home due to increasing rental prices and our family was due to expand as Mathilde was pregnant with our son, Kalle, at the time. Previously, we were living in a two bedroom flat in Crystal Palace with our daughter Karla, and our rent was fast becoming unaffordable. Inevitably, we knew that moving out of London would be a sensible option for us. We decided to broaden our horizons by looking for homes further out of the capital.

We were drawn to the Rochester and Chatham area as it was very close to Mathilde’s sister who lives in Gillingham, Kent. My wife actually was first to see Horsted Park, she took a look around the day after viewing the website and the standard she saw that day couldn’t be matched anywhere else! Mathilde was absolutely right when she thought that I would love the house as much as she did.

The children were our main priority when choosing our new home. We were very keen on choosing the perfect place for our children to grow up in and Karla’s nursery is just a fifteen minute walk away! Our home has plenty of space for them, the large and contemporary open-plan living and kitchen space works perfectly for us and we are so pleased to have a garden. Not only do we now have our own private outdoor space but we have heard great things from our new neighbours who like to spend time using the communal on site playground – which is fantastic chance for us and the children to get to know everyone. The development has plenty of open green spaces and it’s lovely to be surrounded by countryside and there is a choice of great schools close by.

We were extremely impressed with the Help to Buy scheme and Countryside’s sales team. The scheme allowed us to buy the big family home we’ve always wanted – so we will not be moving again any time soon! It was such a great help to us, I would definitely recommend it to anyone. We are really enjoying having our own home with no more rent!

The sales team at Countryside were extremely helpful and made the whole process simple and easy. Our son was born in early January and we moved into Horsted Park at the end of January, so it was a busy but exciting time for us and Countryside were there to help every step of the way. Since buying, they have kept checking on us to make sure we are happy and comfortable. At the moment we are simply enjoying family time together in our beautiful new home.
