Poppy Church, Development Manager and Matthew Dunlop, Site Manager at Countryside escorted mascot Bill on their visit to speak with the children about creating new homes and communities, focusing on their local development, Oaklands Hamlet near Chigwell, Essex.
The afternoon began with a brief history of the site at Oaklands Hamlet, with comparisons of the changes that have been made over the years, followed by a discussion focusing on why the location was chosen for the development. Interactive questions were asked to the students, who worked in small groups to look at a selection of props such as aerial photography and 3D models. The visit concluded with a competition, judged by Poppy and Matthew, when the students had the opportunity to present their Settlements Project to the class to win a selection of prizes.
Poppy Church, Development Manager at Countryside comments: “We had a fantastic afternoon with the children at Coppice Primary School. It was great to see so much enthusiasm and interest in their Settlements Project and give them some background into the homes being built close to their primary school. All of the student’s involvement was fantastic and we hope they enjoyed the visit and meeting Bill Ding.”
Karen Ulyatt, Teacher at Coppice Primary School, adds: “The children thoroughly enjoyed Countryside’s visit. The session was fun and informative, and proved very popular with the children. I have no doubt that this lesson has opened the children’s minds and got them thinking in more detail about the Settlements Project they have recently completed; this was an excellent way to reward them for all their hard work.”
