Homebuilder Countryside has recently been recognised for its exceptional design at Great Kneighton in Cambridge, at the 2017 Housebuilder Awards. In a highly competitive category, the Windham house design, available at Abode, part of the wider Great Kneighton development, was awarded the Best House Design for three storeys or fewer. Countryside was also named ‘Best Large Housebuilder of the Year’ at the ceremony.
The Housebuilder Awards took place at the InterContinental Hotel at the O2 in London on the 2nd November, with over 500 guests in attendance. Supported by the National House Building Council and the Home Builders Federation, these coveted awards recognise excellence in overall design, including aesthetic features and sustainability.
David Everett, Managing Director of Countryside’s New Homes and Communities Central region, comments: “We are thrilled that such a prestigious awards body has recognised one of our most striking house designs, the Windham. At Countryside, we strive to be thoughtful with each house design and the Windham at Abode showcases the height of innovative design, impressive architecture, and sustainability, which has now been recognised with this award win.”
The Windham is an exceptional five-bedroom family home that is perfect for contemporary living, offering over 3000 sq. ft. of flexible living accommodation across three floors. Centred around a unique interior courtyard, the layout makes a remarkably effective use of space, with an integrated double garage, vaulted ceilings, and five terraces.
Externally, the Windham utilises glass balustrades, projecting bricks, and timber cladding to create a contemporary home which exudes character, while melding seamlessly with its surroundings. Flexible family living spaces are featured throughout, including a large separate living room on the first floor, with fully glazed doors leading to a terrace overlooking the courtyard, providing an intimate space to enjoy the outdoors, whilst the remaining four terraces provide ample outdoor space.
All homes at Abode are set amid green open spaces and tree-lined avenues, surrounded by an extensive range of amenities in the wider Great Kneighton development. Local facilities include Trumpington Park Primary School which opened in September 2017, Trumpington Community College, a community centre which is due to open in January 2018, as well as shops, a library, offices, sports pitches and a 120-acre country park.
Abode is only a short walk from the Great Kneighton access point for the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway, which provides a five-minute journey to Cambridge train station, and then into the city centre. Frequent services from the station into London King’s Cross take as little as 49 minutes, making Cambridge a popular choice with commuters. The development is also just a few minutes from the M11 for London, Stansted Airport and the nearby towns of Newmarket, Huntingdon and Norwich.
Prices for The Windham start from £1,250,000, currently available with Stamp Duty paid or Full Value Part Exchange. The marketing suite and show home are open seven days a week between 10am and 5pm. For more information on Abode visit www.abodecambridge.co.uk or call 01223 846 650.
