Our reputation for creating new communities – and ‘places people love’ - is industry leading, and our developments have, and always will, stand the test of time.
Meeting the demand for new homes is a challenge faced by the whole housebuilding industry. However, we believe it’s important that these new homes are supported with appropriate infrastructure and amenities, and in the right locations.
Building ‘places people love’ is at the heart of everything we do. We ensure that the construction of quality new homes, along with the delivery of essential amenities and infrastructure leads to sustainable new neighbourhoods.
Providing new or improved infrastructure is part of our responsibility for creating new places and communities, ensuring our residents and the adjoining local community can all benefit from our developments. For example, at Wickhurst Green in Broadbridge Heath, Sussex, we paid financial contributions to support the extension of the local bus service to extend into our sites. A bypass was created to reduce traffic congestion and make travel easier for everyone in the local area. An extensive footpath and cycleway was also created to provide alternative routes to encourage exercise and more sustainable forms of travel.
Ensuring our residents have access to a range of amenities is also an essential component. At our Cambridge based development, a new primary and secondary school have been built. Trumpington Community College has extensive sports and performance facilities, including floodlit outdoor sports pitches, a sports building with a fully equipped gym, fitness studios and an auditorium, which are shared with the whole community out of school hours. Trumpington Park Primary School opened to pupils this September 2017. The new school has been designed with the intention to grow into a three-form entry school able to accommodate 630 pupils. Its facilities include two halls, a food technology room, library and a nursery.
The amenities at Great Kneighton will shortly be enhanced by the opening of a new a central square which will offer essential neighbourhood amenities including: a new community/health centre, library, shops, offices and a transport hub. This area, named Hobson’s Square, will serve as the heart of Great Kneighton and a main focus for the community. The area has been designed to facilitate a place in which residents can enjoy various activities or events.
Establishing and encouraging a strong sense of community is a key objective for our new residents. We take an active role in helping communities flourish, providing community spaces and amenities where they can meet, as well as hosting regular events. At Beaulieu in Chelmsford, we work in partnership with The Land Trust, who manage the open spaces on site for the benefit of the community. They run regular events and activities for the community on an ongoing basis.
Location, Location, Location
A good location is something that every buyer desires when on the hunt for their dream home. Our developments are strategically located, to place our residents close to everything they might need, whether its schools, shops, transport connections or green spaces and parks. Acton Gardens in Acton, London, is two miles from Chiswick where people can enjoy chic shops, good pubs and restaurants. Closer to home, there are a choice of scenic parks in West London including the world famous Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, just two stops from South Acton station. Acton Gardens is also well connected by tube, over ground, road and will benefit from Crossrail towards the end of 2019.
These qualities collectively fulfil our mission of creating vibrant places where people want to live. We want our residents to love their home and their neighbourhood, and with an equal focus on placemaking and homebuilding, we can continue to help meet the demand for quality new homes, whilst creating vibrant new communities along the way.
