Designing a child’s bedroom gives the opportunity to inject some fun and creativity into the home, and with a few steps can provide a playful space for your child to spend time relaxing. At Countryside, we have taken the time to decorate our show homes to showcase the endless options that interior design can offer, and to give some inspiration to those who are looking to inject some character into their home.

Four Fabulous Ways to Decorate your Children's Bedroom - by Jackie Lee

Feel the power with our superhero bedroom at Abode, Great Kneighton, where the use of cream walls and carpeting are complemented by sharp navy accessories and provide a blank canvas for the comic book enthusiast. Captain America’s shield and Iron Man’s fist come to life with simple wall decals, sure to impress any budding Superman. Hanging paintings, and using wall decals are an effective way to add some flare into the bedroom, and are easily removed to fit with passing trends.

Any parent looking to inject some femininity into a bedroom can rest easy knowing that soft blankets, plush cushions and pastel colors can create the perfect shabby chic oasis. Using a mixture of patterns in a bedroom is a sure-fire way to create a playful atmosphere. Seen in our show home, at Horsted Park, the floral bunting and spotted lampshade add a temporary dimension to the bedroom, and are complemented by the clean lines of the bed and framed drawings on the wall. All of these accessories can be updated as personal tastes develop, ensuring that the room keeps up with any princess in the making.

Those looking to bring some personality into a bedroom shouldn’t shy away from using a feature wall. Choosing one wall to decorate is a low commitment way of injecting some warmth into a space, and easily counteracts the harsh impact of large blank walls. Our children’s bedroom at Beaulieu Chase has a floral feature wallpaper with colorful florals on a cool grey background, which are brought out by the matching cushions on the bed. The white rug and soft lighting creates a calm bedroom, ideal for unwinding in the evening.

Bedding, duvet covers, and blinds are a great way of bringing a bedroom theme to life, and the thoughtful use of striped navy and white accessories in this boy’s bedroom really brings the nautical theme to light. The use of pine wood accessories and the model boat are a sophisticated way of bringing the seas right into the heart of the home. Painting one wall a different color is another way of adding a different dimension into the room, without having to decide on a permanent pattern, ensuring that the bedroom remains flexible for years to come.

With a few thoughtful details, rooms can be transformed to excite children and inspire them to take care of their newly decorated bedrooms.
